jammin.

Few quick updates:
-school is DONE
-most friends are home
-family is in town
-less than one week in HK

With that said today was a pretty eventful day. Did some tourist stuff with the fam in New Territories: HK Heritage Museum, 10,000 buddahs, monkeys, and a temple we thought was 10,000 buddahs but turned out to be a real temple/place with dead people. But it was tonight that was randomly eventful.

It started off in Mong Kok where I randomly stopped in a Nike Basketball shop to ask about the highly anticipated Jordan 11 "space jams" and I ended up getting a ticket for a "Lucky Draw" later that night. When back a few hours later and after about an hour of standing and listening to a lot of Chinese numbers "wong sik sei sap sei hou" (yellow #44) were the magic words to get me a pair of em.

I then proceeded to run into Eugene from Hypebeast at the MTR station and caught the last bus home (score!) Later I met up with him in LKF, meeting Jefford (Toronto, CAN) and Andy (Germany). Also met up with HKU kids and just wondered around LKF for the night.

I also saw an integra wrapped around a pole on the way home. There was a guy standing next to it, so I hope everyone was ok. It was nuts though, only the 2nd accident I've seen in 4 months here.

All and all pretty successful/interesting night. Tomorrow is Christmas eve and in HK that means party, so when in Rome.

I don't have pictures yet, so for now here are some images of what I DIDNT have to put up with to get my space jams

HK Recap: Halloween

I was looking through my most recent posts and realize that almost none of them have anything to do with being in Hong Kong. Rest assured I'm still here, however, I am trapped in my room by papers, test and most of ... grad school applications.

Hopefully after finals, I will update this with stuff, but to get the ball rolling. Just pretend this was posted a month and a half ago.

Halloween in Hong Kong is nuts. Not in the sense that there are throngs of kids scouring the neighborhood for candy or teenage hooligans thrashing around. Nope none of that. Halloween in Hong Kong is partying in LKF.

LKF (Lan Kwai Fong) is a bar area near Central Hong Kong which gets packed at Halloween. Super crowded, directed traffic, barricades and some pretty legit costumes made up the night. All in all, pretty hectic but definitely worth it.

Crowded much?

Harry reppin team toilet paper mummy hard.

Guess my costume: __________.

Ninja Turtles...all 5 (?) of them

Sums it up pretty well

Moral of the story: if you're in HK and it's Oct 31st, go to LKF.

peaces.

Taking a break from an essay I just can't start. First off I just want to say, I love Star Wars just as much as the next guy, but whoa. Saw these Adidas a little while back and got pretty excited.

Today I saw these Star Wars New Eras, now I'm starting to get worried. Too much of a good thing?

the begining of the end...

Last night I went clubbing with some local friends at LKF. Tak generously put us on the list to Club Beijing and Billion, but last night was frustrating to say the least. Basically some of our friends couldn't go in for "something I can't say because I already told you". I don't know whether it was their hair or the fact they look young, but the bouncers are getting to be more and more of a headache. I think it's high time I give those clubs a bit of a break.

And just in the nick of time. I don't know exactly when I began to ponder, but sometime between last night and eating breakfast I realized I only have 3-4 more weekends here before everyone starts to part ways. Don't get me wrong, there are plenty of things I am very much looking forward to at home, but I am starting to feel frantic in the fact that there is still so much to do. So much, in fact, I don't even know what those things are.

Bottom Line: it's game time. Get your work done. Go out. Stop doing the same thing as last week.

Ready, steady, go.

hku danso fm madan

Yes the above is in English. About an month and a half ago I joined the Dance Society here at HKU (Danso). I have never really done this mass dance thing before and figured I'd give it a shot before I have to part ways with undergraduate life. Although it ended up being a huge time commitment (practice was 5-6 times a week for 3+ hours each time) it was totally worth it. I was also considered a 'freshman' in the eyes of Danso, since it was my first year in the society. O to be young again...kindaodd at times though though, aint gonna lie. Overall though: Good people, good times.

Our performance was the day before yesterday Tuesday, and it was more fun than I thought it would be. Usually I just be nervous and mess up, but instead I messed up and still had fun with it. hahaha

I <3 HKU Danso

hello kitty is 35

There has been a lot of commotion lately about Hello Kitty turning 35. Parties (Royal-T what?!) and collab products mostly. I've seen some good stuff come out of it but this Secret Base x Hello Kitty Tee is one of my favorites so far. Reminds me of my scenester/hardcore kid days...haha good times.

Just for the record, I'd wear this in a heartbeat.

flashback

Last night I was up way too late working on my application for Unicamp. Simultaneously, my roommate was playing DoTA until the wee hours of the morning (Kenny?). Just like the good old days back in D9 first and second year.

le sigh.

Today we have yet another dance practice -_-. Today was supposed to be an off day, but they decided to schedule something unofficially. Our performance is on November 3rd though so it will all be over soon. yee!

Alright, it's almost 4pm time to leave me room for the first time today.

college, I will miss you dearly and forever.

i'm back (again?)

Ok so I have been really behind on this and organizing my pictures, which for me go hand in hand. However, I suppose I should just bite the bullet and post sans pictures.

Lately my life is being dominated by:
-Daily (almost) dance practice
-Reading
-Sleeping
-Looking at shoes online
-Wanting to buy shoes online
-A small filipina

Yeah...other than that, Halloween is coming up which means, let's dress up and get drunk. No trick or treating...how sad. O well. Alright I'm out to go film a talent (which is basically a black screen).

Peace.

shades of grey

I realized that I wear a lot of grey. right now, grey sweats, grey shirt, grey boxers...awesome.

Anyways, @myonefaithfulfollower, sorry for not updating this thing more regularly. I like to post at least one of my own pictures with each post, but I am about 400 pictures deep and been super busy. A quick rundown of my life in the past week.

- Got back from Taipei before the Typhoon (take that)
- Wrote an essay (yah two day extension)
- Celebrated Vince's birthday twice (once with beer pong, the second time was dinner)
- Missed my girlfriend A LOT (I hate all couples right now)
- Met Eugene and Jason from Hypebeast (They are super chill, got to kick it with them on Tuesday night, and I got a free beer!)
- Saw my gf for the first time in over a month (via skype, but whatcha gonna do?)

Now its almost 6 am, I have to go to campus early to print and turn in my essay, and print a 4 weeks worth of reading to take with me, I also just finished packing for Thailand which starts tomorrow. 9 day trip. woot.

I'll keep you posted...peace!

i'm back

in Hong Kong, but not for long. Taipei was in one word: RAD. However, Just as soon as we're back, we leave for a 9 day trip to Thailand/Cambodia on Thursday. This means I only got 3 more days to
a) get my work done
b) get my filipina fix before I go crazy

I will post pictures from Taipei when I can, but I got an essay due and I suck at essays.

Also I found out that I have two friends who work for Revolveclothing.com and Karma Loop. Goodbye bank account, I hardly knew yee...

For now a picture of my best fashion accessory will have to do. peace.

first high table

So today, I went to my first high table dinner. What is that you might ask? High Table is a roughly monthly hall event here in the HKU Halls in which everyone in a hall gets together, eats, listens to some people talk. It was cool and all other than the fact it took ALMOST 7 HOURS...that would be 6:45pm-1:30am.

The food was really good though, and in hindsight, it wasn't that bad. All in all, I'm glad I went.

[note: this is not my high table, just a picture of high table]

northside

Whoever said "northcampus" is easy, well as much as you are entitled to your own opinion, I have to respectfully disagree. This weekend I really did not do that much, I stayed in with the intention of getting a lot of work done. In one easy work: F A I L.

Well time to get back to reading...yah Feminism!

One With the Underdogs

Tonight, American Hardcore band Terror is playing in Hong Kong and I will not be there. It's not that I don't want to go, it just seemed like too much effort to see a band I never really got that into...by myself. Yeah it is hard enough to find show buddies in the states, here I have no idea. Terror is a band I'd like to see one day simply because they are such an icon in the hardcore scene. Maybe next time.

Darn, I just remembered, although this band is FROM LA, they were banned from playing in LA because of all the ish that went down at their shows. Dag yo.

Add one more thing I miss at home...

Where the Wild Things Are x Ceremony

What do you get when you cross the childhood favorite "Where the Wild Things Are" and Opening Ceremony?

Freaking Awesome!

To my one and only follower...

Sorry I haven't been update this regularly. Since our weekend trip to Macau, I have been sick and just trying to recover/go to school. Hopefully this weekend will be productive...but just a quick update.

This guy in the tiara is DJ Tak.

DJ Tak is one of the resident DJs at club Club Billion here in Hong Kong. Monica and I met this guy one night a few weeks ago at a student association club party. Basically, he DJ'ed the gig, I commented I liked his Vans, he told us it was his birthday and that we should come to his birthday party at Billion. So we did, as did 18 other friends. Since then we text him just every week and he hooks us up at Billion and Club Beijing.

Thats the plan for tonight, should be fun! Peace.

do you have a condom?

Just now marks the second time locals have asked me for a condom, but this time it was it was three of them, and two of them had face paint on...I really hope this is some kind of scavenger hunt.

And for the record (and any locals) I DO NOT HAVE ANY CONDOMS.

As a consolation prize, please enjoy the lol cat below.

down at the race track.

Today, a bunch of us went to the Happy Valley Racetrack. Byron and myself had to get there late because of House, but yea we pretty much missed all the races...but it totally lead to a huge SUCCESS!

Walking the the street, I swear we walked by this guy.

This is Sam. He is a member of Subcrew and from what I gather from their blog, Sam is also somewhat of a celebrity. I wish I had stopped him to figure out if it was really him try and talk to him, but we were trying to hurry and catch the last race. Then we ended the night in Won Chai for Ladies Night. Too bad I'm not a lady.
O well, part FAIL, part SUCCESS, time for sleep.

1,2,3,...8?

o today they hoisted the Typhoon no. 8 Warning, which is just above 3. This also means if the same conditions persist until tomorrow there is no school. That also means most public transit is shut down, and McDonald's wont deliver.

At this point, although I am experiencing a typhoon first hand, I actually don't know what formally constitutes a Typhoon. So I looked it up.

"A Pacific typhoon or tropical storm is a tropical cyclone that forms in the northwestern Pacific Ocean." (via Wikipedia.org)

That would explain the wind and rain...So far I have direct contact with Swine Flu and a Typhoon.

What's next?

H1N1

First off, I don't have it (I think), but I did get tested for it today. One of our friends, Sharon, is our first confirmed case of H1N1 in our little group of friends. When we found out this morning, Steven, Mike and I hopped in a taxi and went to the Designated Flu Clinic to get tested...and get some Tamiflu.

This is how our day started:

If we all get sick, blame it on this one.

So after getting a long Q-tip jammed way too far up my nose and a little bit of sweet talk, this is what I got back. I get my test results back in 3 days, but I started Tamiflu already.

Four Days a Week I Go Here

Last week realized that I had no pictures of campus and because the only reason I'm in HK is because of school, it seems only proper to post some pictures of it. Enjoy.

Neighborhood x Coke Zero

If you haven't already heard (or really don't care that much about a soda can) Neighborhood did a collaboration can with Coke Zero in here in Hong Kong. Today I was lucky enough to find a couple of cans while eating lunch at our usually spot, the hospital.

I don't know why I was so excited for a soda can, but here's my next target...a shopping bag.

Dim Sum and Then Some

So last week, we went out to Dim Sum, and being in Hong Kong it was really good. The only thing that sucked was we found out later that night that one of the guys who came was sick and didn't bother to mention it to anyone. The next day I thought I was going to get sick and with swine flu at pandemic status here, I didn't think I was being that paranoid. Later I found out he was having kidney problems. The next day I was ok...Then I found $10.

No English means you know it's good.

This poor lady had to deal with Canto from Steven, Mandarin from Selena and a really confused Nicholas from Luxembourg.

I just realized we had the whole chicken on the table.

nom.

Lolz

So my girlfriend sent me this link the other day. I'm not sure how much free time this guy had, but I have to say TOTAL SUCCESS!
